They are fully committed to their roles and their priority is to provide loving, caring and stimulant environment and build a firm foundation for their future. Most of them are qualified to Level 3 in Childcare and Education or working towards it. In order to maintain the quality of care, all staff regularly attend training courses such as Child Protection, First Aid, Equal Opportunities, EYFS etc.

Meet our Senior Staff:

NICOLA RICE – Nursery Manager

Welcome to The Kindergarten!

I am Nicola Rice and I am the Manager of The Kindergarten. I have been in childcare since July 2000 and have a wealth of knowledge and experience within the childcare sector. I started as a trainee nursery assistant and worked in various positions to become the Nursery Manager. I have undertaken all essential and relevant training courses in childcare. I am currently undertaking my NVQ4 in Childcare Management to further my skills and knowledge. My passion is to provide every child a “Home away from Home” when they are with us!!

I believe

  • In providing the best possible care combined with love and security for all OUR children.
  • In being a good role model for all members of staff and encourage them to identify and use their strengths and skills.
  • In true partnership with parents. When “we work together” it has a huge positive impact on children’s development and learning.

AMY STRONG – Curriculum Coordinator

Hello! My name is Amy Strong and I am the teacher in the 3 to 5 year old class. I have been teaching at the Kindergarten since December 2005.  I am a qualified teacher from Canada. I have a four year Bachelor of Applied Arts in Child and youth Study (2002) and a two year Bachelor of Education in Elementary studies (Hons) (2004). As Part of my B.Ed. program I was trained in all areas of the curriculum. After graduating from University in 2004, I moved to the UK to pursue a teaching career in a country where I could travel and experience a different lifestyle.

My first few months in Oxford were spent supply teaching in primary and secondary school around Oxfordshire. Within three months I was hired as a nursery teacher and have been working with this age group ever since. Due to my experience I feel that I can provide a safe, friendly, fun and educational learning environment for your child.

SARAH SYKES – Deputy Manager

I am the Deputy Manager and the Senior Nursery Nurse of the 2-3 year class. I have worked at The Kindergarten for the last 11 years and have extensive experience with children of all ages. I hold BTEC in Childcare and Early Years and have attended all the relevant and essential courses to keep up to date with new procedures and legislations.

I thoroughly enjoy my days at the nursery. My aim is to provide the children with love, affection and care!
